Marcos denounces ‘woke’ sex education Bill in Catholic Philippines

MANILA :  Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos denounced on Monday ( Jan 20 ) a proposed law to make sex education mandatory in schools in the conservative mainly Catholic nation, alleging it would teach 4-year-olds to pleasure themselves.

Marcos vowed to reject the Bill in the event it barriers Congress, blaming individuals with a “woke” culture for what he said was an “abhorrent” and “ridiculous” plan.

Legislators backing the” Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy” Bill said making it a necessary subject in schools may help address a higher rate of teenage pregnancies, as well as physical assault of minors.

” Over the weekend, I finally read in depth Senate Bill 1979. And I was shocked, and I was appalled by some of the– some of the aspects of that,” Marcos told reporters.

” You may teach four-year-olds how to kiss. That every kid has the right to test different orientations. This is insane,” Marcos said.

” If this Bill is passed in that kind, I guarantee all parents, educators, and children: I did instantly reject it. “

The Senate Bill may mandate the government to promote “age-appropriate” and enforced” comprehensive sexuality education” in schools that is “medically accurate, historically sensitive, rights-based, and equitable and non-discriminatory”.

Sex education was incorporated into the common school education for kids aged 10 to 19 in 2012 with the passing of a sexual health laws, though private schools, many of them run by the Catholic Church, are never required to teach it.

Senator Risa Hontiveros denied that her Bill contained the term “masturbation” and trying “different sex”, but added:” I am willing to accept modifications to enhance the Bill so we can navigate it to section. “

Her advisers told AFP the Senate has yet to plan the Bill for a floor conversation, making it unlikely it will be passed before the government adjourns earlier next month ahead of the May 12 congressional elections.
