
SINGAPORE: A man caught urinating at Potong Pasir MRT station was fined the maximum S$ 2, 000 ( US$ 1, 500 ) by the State Courts on Wednesday ( Feb 26 ).  ,

The 57-year-old Singaporean pleaded guilty to one fee of causing common problem.  ,
Before 7o’clock in the evening on January 13, 2025, Zhou boarded a train from Chinatown MRT train to Punggol MRT station. Before this, he had already consumed alcohol and felt the urge to ejaculate while traveling by train.
At Potong Pasir MRT train,  , Zhou alighted and went to the customer service center.  ,
He urinated and unzipped his pants it, but a place administrator alerted the police and the operations command center. Zhou was detained and charged in judge.  ,
A good was requested by both the prosecution and Gan Teng Wei, Zhou’s attorney.  ,
Mr. Gan claimed that Zhou was embarrassed and ashamed that his customer had privately visited the station to apologize to the employees.  ,
He had been informed that excessive alcohol consumption had caused the incident, and he has since joined an alcohol addiction program, according to Mr. Gan.  ,
Another person, Soo Fook Khan, is awaiting trial in the courts after being accused of urinating at the Tanah Merah MRT place on the same day as Zhou.  ,
Li Guorui, a different man, took his own life on an elevator rail at the Outram Park MRT place on January 10. He was fined S$ 2, 000.
In response to queries in parliament on Feb 18 about the number of public urination situations and , related anti-social attitude,  , Minister of State for Home Affairs and Social and Family Development Sun Xueling said that the , authorities do not record cases of anti-social behavior.  ,
” Depending on the nature of the conduct, such circumstances does be investigated by the appropriate authorities. For instance, for cases of people incontinence, in the presence of factors indicating legal conduct, the National Environment Agency will research and get action”, she said.
But, if a criminal offence is disclosed, the authorities may research. However, this requires a case-by-case analysis of the nature and conditions of the do involved.
” For instance, an infraction of public problem may be made out if the defendant’s action causes any injuries, danger, or anger to the public”, she said.  ,
For his crime of common nuisance, Zhou could have been jailed for up to three months, fined up to S$ 2, 000 or both.  ,
