
A 30-year-old man will face a charge in Singapore on Thursday ( Mar 27 ) for allegedly stealing a passenger’s wallet from Singapore and using her debit card at Changi Airport.  ,
Singapore Police Force ( SPF ) spokesperson said it received an alert at around 4.55 am on March 16.
The sufferer had stored her pocket inside her backpack during the trip and kept it in the overhead compartment.
According to the authorities, her debit card was reportedly used at retail locations in Changi Airport’s transport area.
The customer called the police after being informed of illegal transactions on her bank application.
According to the police, both the suspect, an Indian man, and the passenger knew each other and had used the same overhead compartment of the same to save their belongings.
SPF did not disclose the location where the reported crime occurred.
The Airport Police Division detained the person. He will be charged with fraud in courtroom on Thursday. He faces a three-year sentence in prison, a great, or both if found guilty.
He may spend up to 10 years in prison and pay a fine if found guilty of cheating.
The authorities stated that robbery on board aircraft is not tolerated.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police M Malathi,  , captain of the Airport Police Division,” It was lucky that the customer had enabled notifications on her banks software, allowing her to immediately report the illegal transactions of her debit card.”
This made it possible for us to arrest the man quickly before he could leave Singapore.
