SINGAPORE:  , A 33-year-old man who is believed to be a key figure in an e-vaporiser syndicate has been arrested,  , the Singapore Police Force ( SPF ) and Health Sciences Authority ( HSA ) said on Friday ( Oct 18 ).
The arrest, which was made during an islandwide joint operation by SPF and HSA on Oct 10 targeting the syndicate, was linked to an ongoing investigation of seized e-vaporisers worth S$ 6.5 million ( US$ 4.95 million ) by HSA.
In a joint media release released on Friday, SPF and HSA said that” the person is believed to be a vital figure behind an e-vaporiser syndicate.”
According to preliminary examinations, he reportedly planned the importation and distribution of e-vaporizers from Malaysia to Singapore and has been supplying the local people there.
According to the authorities, the man was accused of obstructing the course of justice, burglary, and fraudulently inducing a shipping of property under the Penal Code in court on October 11.
He was also indicted for the Tobacco ( Control of Advertisements and Sale ) Act’s governing the import and distribution of e-vaporizers.
According to SPF and HSA, the situation has been postponed until Friday, with the person being placed on remand while SPF and HSA are looking into their inquiries.
