Officials are looking for a person who threatened a mass shooting at Khon Kaen Central Plaza on Thursday via social media. During the trip, security may be heightened within vulnerable areas throughout this northern state.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Burmese regional Sai Sun Paur, has not been confirmed as the real people behind the posts on Facebook, as his image and brand may have been impersonated, authorities reported on Friday.

A gun with a message stating he may arrive at the shopping plaza in 30 days was featured on one of the posts.

In reply, over 200 police officials were deployed to the store in Muang region at 7pm on Thursday. Consumers were evacuated, and stores closed early, though no shooting occurred.

On Friday, the square reopened as usual, with police officers keeping a watch over the safety of the community.

Authorities intend to charge the suspect with making challenges under the Computer Crime Act by using his Twitter account to find him.
