A man died after he was shot multiple times just 300 metres from a police station in Bangkok Noi district on Sunday night, the police said yesterday.
The attack took place near the entrance to Soi Charan Sanitwong 30/1 at around 10.30pm on Sunday. The police identified the victim as Satthawat Robroo, 23, who had just completed his first year as a student of Pathumwan Institute of Technology.
Pol Capt Narueset Emkrit, deputy chief of investigation at Bangkok Noi police station, said the victim was hit by six bullets. A bullet hole was also found in the victim’s motorcycle.
Witnesses said Satthawat was riding down the soi when two men on a motorcycle overtook him and opened fire, causing him to crash. As he lay on the ground, the men approached, fired several shots at the victim and fled.
Uraiwan, the victim’s mother, said her son did not have enemies and that Satthawat always took the route to buy food. She said she was heartbroken as Satthawat told her he was planning to return to Chiang Khan for the Songkran holiday.
