A police lieutenant colonel who was trying to put an end to a home hostage crisis at a home in the Bang Bon city of Bangkok when he was shot dead by a mentally ill person committed suicide early on Sunday morning.
According to the Royal Thai Police Office, authorities arrived at a three-storey tower in the DK Rama 2 cover house on Rama II Road at 9.45pm on Saturday after being informed that a disturbed shooter was holding community members captive there.
Pol Lt Col Kittichon Janyarom, 59, deputy chief of Tha Kham police depot, and his team approached the tower to start discussions.
Pol Lt Col Kittichon was shot three times in his neck and hands, and was later , pronounced deceased at Mali Hospital. His superior, a officers senior sergeant big, was slightly injured.
Daughter pistol-whipped
Police rescued community members from the property after the shooting, including a girl who had been shot in the face with a weapon.
The girl claimed that her father had four firearms, including ammunition and a shotgun.
A recovery worker claimed that last month, at the request of local police, rescue workers had sent the guy to a mental health facility, and that at the time, the man had threatened to upset rescue workers.
The gentleman had reportedly refused to receive his medication for a time and had not been treated.
Police told residents to stay inside for protection while they were attempting to quiet down the assailant immediately.
Gunshots were occasionally heard from the inside, and police officials used a loudspeaker to deal with the person.
- At 4.40am the assailant fired one picture.
- At 5.20-5.27am officers fired five teargas pictures into the bulding.
- At 5.28am four shots were heard.

The house was flooded by teargassers from the authorities. At about 5.40am commandoes entered the building and found the man, 49, dying on a mezzanine.
