SINGAPORE: A 67-year-old man was sentenced to 19-and-a-half years ‘ jail on Friday ( Jan 24 ) for raping his daughter’s maid while the family was away.
He was given a stay of execution while incarcerated and informed the court that he would file an appeal against his judgment and sentence.
Due to a joke attempt, the person, who cannot be identified, was recently found guilty of two counts of assault and two counts of outrage of humility after a trial.
The person allegedly raped the girl on January 5, 2020, while she was by herself with him at home. The rest of the home were abroad.
The trial claims that he offered her wine and invited the girl to watch TV with him. He even gave her” product needles”.
Before sexually violating the girl, he gave the girl the shots on a seat in the living space.
According to the prosecution, the person did not consent to the sexual functions but was unable to resist because she felt very excited and weak from the substances she had consumed.
The girl was then taken up to her home and placed on the bed by the man.
She called her girl in a disturbed condition the day after she woke up at around 4am the following morning.
She informed her firm what transpired when they returned home on January 8, 2020. The following morning, she was taken to file a police report.
James Chew, Tin Shu Min, and Yap Jia Jun, Deputy Public Prosecutor, relied on information from closed-circuit television (CCTV ) images from the living room.
The man conducted his own defense at prosecution without the aid of a solicitor.
Justice Mavis Chionh questioned the criminal on Friday if he had used ChatGPT to review his reduction entries. She claimed that they referenced unsolved legal situations.
She said that ChatGPT was not a legitimate study tool when the person confirmed that he had used it.
In punishment, Justice Chionh said that the criminal knew the sufferer was actually able to fight off his physical advances, and “brazenly exploited” this.
She claimed that the victim received liquor as part of some manslaughter and that the maid had changed the bedroom’s CCTV cameras so that the bed was hidden from view.
The girl was left alone with her company’s father for eight weeks, which made the crimes even more severe.
The target claimed during the test that the victim had seduced him and planned to murder him, according to Justice Chionh.
The prosecutor found that he was entitled to elevate these issues as part of his army, which was not conducted in an “extravagant” way.
She thus disagreed with the trial that the boy’s lack of remorse was an aggravating factor.
As the person is above 50, he may be caned. The prosecutors did not request more jail time in place of being caned.
Given the defendant’s long prison term, the prosecutor argued that the punishment and retribution that could be achieved through caning were still present.
After the statement was read out, the person kept his eyes closed and later informed the court that he would seek legal counsel to handle his appeal.
He remains out on bail of S$ 80, 000 ( US$ 60, 000 ), put up by two of his daughters.
For assault, the male could have been jailed for up to 20 years and fined. He may have faced fines and prison time for outcry of modesty.
As the victim was a home worker, he may possess received up to double the utmost consequences.
