Man gets jail, caning for attempted rape of Thai disco singer

On Friday ( Dec. 6), a man who attempted to rape a Thai disco singer received a nine-and-a-half year prison sentence and six cane-strengths.

Yeo Zhuo Ping, 28, was found guilty on two counts of attempted murder and one count of attempted sexual assault after a previous trial on August 7, 2018.

The personality of the sufferer, who was 31 at the time, is protected by joke order. The incident occurred shortly after she and Yeo, both 23, had their first encounter.

The sufferer started her move at her place of employment on August 6, 2018, at 9o’clock. That night Yeo and a colleague went to the bar.

The target testified at trial that she was compensated by customers for purchasing flower bouquets. Yeo gave her a bouquet, and she entertained him at his desk while they played drinking game.

The target left Yeo when she was finished with her move at around 3 a.m. Yeo had asked her out for dinner, and she first agreed because she wanted to keep him as a client.

However, as she was taking a flight to Bangkok later that evening, she changed her mind and made the decision to return home. Yeo offered to send her apartment, and she agreed.

They landed and headed her way in the direction of the victim’s car because the pair couldn’t come to a halt at her house.

The victim claimed that Yeo was kissing and hugging her, and that she was attempting to push him aside and demand that he quit.

She attempted to flee, but Yeo resisted to permit her leave. At the end of the enclosure block’s elevator landing, he gradually shoved her into a tiny chamber called Kim Tian Road.

She claimed that he twice tried to murder her there and that he even attempted to force her to have sex with him.

The victim, who was in grief, pleaded with Yeo to let her go. She informed the court that he began to appear terrified and left, leaving her alone in the area.

The victim finally picked up her and brought her home after receiving a photo of her place. Before flying to Bangkok later that evening, she made a police statement.

After she returned to Singapore, a medical examination revealed wounds that matched those brought on by sexual assault.

Before they disappeared from view, Yeo and the prey were also captured on police cameras fighting against him and pushing her under the stairs.

Yeo’s army was one of rejection. He claimed that because he had drunk a bit and had “broken thoughts,” he was unable to understand all that transpired in the staircase.

He also claimed to have been struck in the preceding small area by hitting his head against the sky.

In August, district judge James Elisha Lee found Yeo guilty, rejecting his defense, and labeling his evidence “entirely a construction and an excuse.”

On Friday, the prosecutor said the powerful sentencing considerations were common deterrence, vengeance and protection of the public.

He made note of Yeo’s claimed test, which forced the victim to go through the suffering of having to testify against her.

He also made reference to Yeo’s claims that the police officer who compiled his statements had made up accounts, which the judge found to be amazing.

He individually committed drink-driving and unsafe driving offences, for which he was sentenced to four weeks ‘ prison, fined S$ 8, 500 and given a 36-month driving restrictions that may get influence after his discharge.

Yeo, whose family was in court, would begin serving his sentence on Friday, according to Amarjit Singh, the defense attorney.
