A 60-year-old man has been found guilty in court for a driving offense that was captured by a red-light lens during a speed enforcement operation.
On April 9, around 12.40 p.m., a man was caught beating a reddish light along a West Coast Highway intersection.
The police said in a media release on Wednesday ( July 24 ) that he was traveling at 111 km/h on a road where the speed limit is 70 km/h.
For the offence of dangerous driving, the man was on Jul 3 handed a fine of , S$ 2, 000 ( US$ 1, 486 ) and disqualified from driving for 15 months.  ,
The police claimed that this is the first instance of a speeding-related charge filed in court after a red-light camera was used to record a speeding infraction.
The crime of dangerous driving carries a fine of up to S$ 5, 000, a prison term of up to 12 weeks, or both. Additionally, violators may be prohibited from operating all types of cars.

Since then,  , more than 5, 000 speeding breaches have been captured by these red-light devices.
The Singapore Police Force stated that the police take a” major view” of drivers who drive while driving and running the red lights, adding that they will not hesitate to take legal action against those who violate traffic rules and threaten people ‘ protection.
