Man falls to death from tree while picking wild fruit

NAKHON RATCHASIMA: An elderly villager who also went out to look for outrageous fruit in the forest in Wang Nam Khieo district has been found dead on Wednesday morning following an aborted lookup in the night.

Montree Phiewphong, a member of the Hook 31 rescue group, said that at about 8pm on Saturday villagers told them the neighbour had gone lacking after going into a residential area forest in Thap Lan National Recreation area.

These people identified the man because Luang Chodkasem, 73, a native associated with Wang Nam Khieo district.

Luang left the village on Sunday afternoon, heading in to the forest in search of crazy samo fruit. When he had not came back by late night time, his son became worried. He as well as other villagers decided to ask for help from the Catch 31 rescue team based in Wang Nam Khieo district.

The group launched a search soon after 8pm, scouring the forest until about 2am on Weekend, when they called off the unsuccessful search.  

Upon Sunday morning, the particular son went into the forest alone and found his dad lying dead within samo tree. He informed the town chief, who consequently asked the recovery team to help shift the body out of the forest. It was believed Luang had fallen in order to his death from the tree, about five kilometres from the town.

The rescuers, accompanied by law enforcement, used a motorcycle to transport the body out from the forest to Wang Nam Khieo Medical center for an autopsy.
