Man charged with theft after passenger’s wallet stolen on SIA flight, debit card used at Changi Airport

A 30-year-old man was charged with theft and cheating on Thursday ( Mar 27 ) after allegedly using a passenger’s debit card at Changi Airport to board a flight and then use it to travel to Singapore.

On March 15 at around 8.10 pm, Dimas Setiawan Joko allegedly stole a pocket while traveling on Singapore Airlines trip SQ242 from Sydney to Singapore, according to his charge sheets.

The budget, which belonged to a co-passenger, included US$ 122 ( S$ 63 ), 427, 000 Indonesian rupiah ( S$ 34), a debit card, and other items.

In the first hours of March 16, Dimas eventually used the defendant’s debit card to make a S$ 2 bottle of water at a restaurant in Changi Airport Terminal 2’s exit transport area.

He also purchased chocolates for about S$ 90 from a Cocoa Tree store at the airport using the cards. Charge sheets included several boxes of” Merlion” chocolates. &nbsp,

The victim had kept her pocket inside her purse and kept it in the overhead room during the flight, according to a news release from the police on Wednesday.

After receiving notifications of these illegal activities on her banks software, the victim immediately called the police for help. &nbsp,

Within an hour of the document, aircraft police officers located Dimas and detained him thanks to ground searches and CCTV images. &nbsp,

Further studies revealed that both Dimas and the target are well-known and had used the same overheard room for their belongings while flying. &nbsp,

The Indonesian said he intended to plead guilty and wouldn’t be using a solicitor when he appeared in court on Thursday. &nbsp,

On April 10, his case will be heard once more.
