A man was charged on Wednesday ( Mar. 6 ) with leaving 43 of his pet cats without food and water in a flat for about three months.
Two of the cats were found in “exceedingly poor body ( conditions )” as a result of “acute deaths” caused by stress.
Under the Animals and Birds Act, the 31-year-old Singaporean Muhammad Danial Sukirman was charged with 44 counts.
The 43 animals are generally responsible for inflicting unnecessary pain and suffering, with the most recent offense being failure to meet with an approved officer at the Animal &, Veterinary Service.
Between August 2021 and November 2021, Danial left the 43 animals alone at a unoccupied apartment on the fifth floor of a Housing Board wall at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.
He did not provide enough food and water to his dogs, and the flat was in “poor life problem.”
E1 to E43 were given to domestic shorthair cat.
E42 and E43 were discovered in a position of “exceedingly poor brain problem” after an incident involving” stress and physical activity,” according to the allegations.
Danial was finally given a written notice on December 6, 2022, informing him that he had to appear before an approved official at the Animal &, Veterinary Service at the JEM Office Tower on December 12.
He resisted, though.
The counsel for the National Parks Board ( NPS) said he would be requesting a complete statement of at least two to four weeks in prison.
On 10 fees, with the other 34 being taken into account, the petition offer was made.
Danial stated that he wanted to plead innocent but that he wanted to hire legal counsel through the Public Defender’s Office.
On March 27, he may go back to court.
He faces up to 18 months in prison, a fine of up to S$ 15 000, or both for each offense of inflicting unnecessary pain and suffering on an dog.
He could be jailed for up to six months, fined up to S$ 10,000, or both if found guilty of not showing up before an approved agent.
