Man arrested for setting fire to curtains in Changi Airport holding room

A gentleman from Australia has been detained for igniting curtain shades in a Changi Airport meeting room.

The police received an alert on Thursday at around 2.15am ( Dec. 12 ) about a case of a violent male passenger entering the Changi Airport Terminal 2’s holding room.

According to a police release on Thursday, the 33-year-old man allegedly verbally abused the supplementary police officers after his request for a smoke was rejected.

The man reportedly used his light to burn the screen blinds in the keeping room before the officers arrived.

According to police, he threatened to distribute the lights if his need was not met.

Officials from the Airport Police Division later extinguished the blaze.

During the fight, the person even sprayed a hearth hose at the officers, police added.

The person may be charged with the evil by fire with the intention of causing harm on Friday. If found guilty, he may be jailed for up to seven times and be fined. &nbsp,

According to the officers, he is still the subject of further legal investigations.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police M Malathi, the director of the Airport Police Division,” the authorities have zero tolerance for such violent acts against police officials and acts that endanger the lives or the safety of people.” &nbsp,

” We will not bother to vigorously prosecute those who flagrantly violate the law.”
