Man arrested after throwing apparent Molotov cocktails at Japan’s ruling party headquarters

TOKYO: A man&nbsp, was arrested after throwing what appeared to be Molotov cocktails at the headquarters of Japan’s ruling party on Saturday ( Oct 19 ) and ramming his car into a fence outside the prime minister’s office, police said.

No deaths were reported in the affair, which occurs only over a week before the general election on October 27 for which new prime minister Shigeru Ishiba hopes to strengthen his authority.

A Tokyo police spokesperson said a 49-year-old gentleman from Saitama, northeast of the Chinese capital, was “arrested on the spot on fear of obstructing people jobs”.

He approached the Liberal Democratic Party’s headquarters on Saturday at sunrise, drove up, and threw what appeared to be Molotov cocktails, according to the representative.
