The 114 border checkpoints across the country will be taken over by the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency ( AKPS), according to a report released on Friday by The Star.

The Following Link and the Johor-Singapore Causeway would be the first two gates, which had total 22.

An established from Malaysia’s Home Ministry told The Star that the 114 gates across the country include 56 via the lake, 30 via area as well as at 28 flights.

The official was quoted as saying,” Sarawak has the most number of checkpoints, followed by Johor ( 16 ) and Sabah ( 14),” adding that he hopes the one-stop agency can ease the congestion at the land borders with Singapore with proper command and coordination.

The company’s primary objective is to be the only force in border control at all of our gates nationwide. The official said that it will take some time before the AKPS will take control of all 114 gates nationwide. Commanders are tasked with optimizing their manpower and resources.

Local media reported that the Cabinet of Malaysia’s Cabinet approved of the AKPS’s creation in April of that year.

Among others, authorities involved in AKPS include the officers, the Customs Department, the Immigration Department, the Health Ministry, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and the Road Transport Department.

Individually, Johor State Works, Transportation, Infrastructure, and Communication Committee Chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh told The Star the AKPS do work in four places in Johor from Feb 1.

” We hope the transition will be smooth at both our ( land ) checkpoints with Singapore.

The state government added that there were now more than 20 companies performing various duties at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar ( BSI) traditions, immigration, and isolation complex only.” The state government hopes this will alleviate congestion at our gates,” he said.

We anticipate that all the bureaucratic complexities, especially those involving cooperation and control, may be eliminated with AKPS,” says Mohamad Fazli.
