Malaysia’s 99-year-old ex-PM Mahathir in hospital: Aide

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s nearly 100-year-old former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has been hospitalised for” continuous coughing”, his aide told AFP on Thursday ( Jul 18 ).

According to Sufi Yusoff,” Mahathir is anticipated to be treated for the next few time,” adding that he had been admitted on Monday.

A two-time former prime minister, Mahathir turned 99 next year.

He underwent bypass surgeries and has had some heart issues in recent years.

He spent almost three months in the hospital earlier this year.

Born on Jul 10, 1925, Mahathir served as prime minister twice, second taking office as the country’s fourth national president from 1981 until 2003.

He therefore served as prime minister from 2018 to 2020 for a second day at the age of 92.
