Malaysian government to revive national service programme at military camps

KUALA LUMPUR: According to Malaysia’s defense secretary Mohamad Hasan, the National Service Training Programme ( PLKN) may be revived, but with a new training strategy that calls for students to receive training at army camps.

For the PLKN training program, which lasts 45 days, there are 13 Territorial Army ( Wataniah ) camps that can house up to 20, 000 trainees, he added. The program was discontinued in 2018 after it was discovered that it had been misused for the purpose of indoctrinating certain beliefs, along with the National Civics Bureau, & nbsp, and lbp.

The Cabinet has approved the continuation of PLKN in 2021 because it is crucial in educating our children about nation-building.

The Ministry of Defense has established a special commission to investigate how to bring PLKN back to life while using an original guide rather than the previous strategy, which was more kin to savoring the summer.

During a question-and-answer session in parliament on Monday, October 9, he said,” But this time, we want to apply PLKN without spending much, but will greatly benefit members.”

Mr. Mohamad responded to a query from MP Syed Ibrahim Siyed Noh( PH – Ledang) asking if the government was thinking about reviving the PLKN as an action.

According to Mr. Mohamad, PLKN 3.0 may be implemented in two phases, with Phase 1 being carried out at the college degree with Form Four kids and a focus on improving current uniform system programs.

” They advance to Phase 2 after completing Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM ).” Other companies will welcome them during this stage.

” Previously, they simply took part and had fun, but after that, there was no continuity.” They were left in disarray and without proper advice because the program’s introduction was never acknowledged, he continued.

According to Mr. Mohamad, Phase 2 of PLKN education will only get 45 times, with 90 modules being military-focused to develop participants into adaptable, active, and good youths, while 10 % will be based on efforts to build nations.

In order to prepare trained youth for future employment in important government agencies like the Royal Malaysia Police ( PDRM ), the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, and the Civil Defence Force, PLKN 3.0 aims to develop strong character and a deep love for their country.

The government may reduce monthly spending from RM500 million( US$ 107.7 million ) to Rs 100 million by setting up PLKN 3.0 in military camps and police training facilities and hiring defense personnel as instructors there.

Mr. Hasan added that the paperwork was currently being prepared at the ministry level and will be submitted to the National Security Council( MKN ) for approval before the program resumes. Instead of using templates from Singapore and Korea, which are tailored to focus on manpower deployment, PLKN 3.0 will use a customized version of our own template.

PLKN, a three-month training program that includes natural, loyalty, character development, and community services units, was introduced in December 2003. With an annual cost of approximately RM600 million, between 85 000 and 95 000 arbitrarily chosen members joined.

With about 20,000 employees per month, it ceased in 2015 before resuming in 2016 as PLKN 2.0. It was discontinued in August 2018.
