According to Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, the Malaysian government is in talks with social media platform TikTok to restore 18 accounts belonging to media outlets that have been blocked due to artificial intelligence ( AI ) moderation.
According to preliminary reports, the accounts were barred as a result of the media’s coverage of an alleged sexual assault of a young girl at a mosque in Selangor last Friday ( Feb 21 ), according to Fahmi on Monday ( Feb 24 ).  ,
Among the addresses TikTok has blocked are those of Buletin TV3 and Bernama, a regional news company in Malaysia. The ban was still in power as of 3.30pm on Monday.
At the start of the” AI in the Newsroom” program organized by Bernama in Kuala Lumpur, Fahmi was quoted as saying,” The problem is TikTok’s artificial intelligence itself… AI can sometimes go too far” from the media organization reporting.
He continued, noting that sexual assault cases are typically reported by advertising outlets and shouldn’t be a problem.
Over the weekend, video of the case in issue went viral.  , In closed-circuit television film, a man was seen sneaking into the children’s meditation place of a mosque in Batang Kali, Selangor.
He attempted to bring the girl away undiscovered when she came out of the shadows.
The 19-year-old suspect is under trial for seven times to help Selangor authorities with their research.
The event is being looked into in accordance with the 2017 Physical Offenses Against Children Act’s Part 14!
Fahmi claimed that the government has requested from TikTok to recover the records and provide an explanation to both the authorities and the internet.
