
Datuk Mohamad Alamin, the deputy foreign minister, will make a working visit to Vietnam from Tuesday ( April 29 ) to Thursday ( May 1 ) to represent Malaysia at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and national reunification.
Five years since the reconciliation of North and South Vietnam in 1975, a historic milestone that laid the groundwork for the growth and stability of current Vietnam, is being celebrated at the Ho Chi Minh City party, according to the Malaysian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday.
The working attend “underlines Malaysia and Vietnam’s long-standing compassion and participation” and serves as a “reaffirmation of both countries ‘ devotion to further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and cooperating deeper within the framework of Asean and other international fora,” the statement read.
Mohamad is scheduled to speak with his Taiwanese counterpart Nguyen Manh Cuong as well as top Communist Party of Vietnam members on the sidelines of the party.
The meetings will concentrate on strengthening diplomatic relations, examining fresh cooperation areas like trade and investment, education, and social exchange, and reaffirming the two nations ‘ shared commitment to regional peace and prosperity, according to the ministry.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Mohamad is also anticipated to hold meetings with the company group. – Bernama
