PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will send a representative to the hearing on the downing of MH17 at a Dutch court on Nov 17, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
“As the court handling the murder trial of four suspects announces its ruling, we are looking at seeking justice for the victims of the tragedy with the upcoming verdict,” the Transport Minister said in a Facebook post after a bilateral meeting with Netherlands Infrastructure and Water Management Minister Mark Harbers at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) headquarters in Montreal, Canada, on Wednesday (Sept 28).
“We discussed several aviation-related issues and on behalf of the Malaysian government, I expressed my gratitude to the Netherlands government for its assistance and its pro-active actions in the investigation and prosecution process,” Dr Wee said.
The MCA president said he also talked about drone-flying training in both countries and said the Netherlands had invited Malaysian representatives to the Amsterdam Drone Week to be held in March 2023.
“We are glad to note that both countries share the same views on environmental sustainability and are both supportive of ICAO’s Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation,” he added.
