As the neighboring nation takes severe actions against trafficking and other cross-border crimes, Malaysia will deploy a special force to guard the boundary with Narathiwat’s Sungai Kolok district from Sunday.
At least 90 Senoi Praaq members may be stationed along the borders opposite the Thai area starting on Sunday, according to Bernama, the state’s police chief. The elite unit may take over the leadership of the border force task, according to Bernama.
Senoi Praaq has English SAS-trained employees. The US Central Intelligence Agency once referred to it as” The Silent Killer” when they were stationed in Laos during the Indochina War, according to the New Straits Times.
The use of the elite police staff, which the Malaysian national police chief approved, is thought to highlight Kelantan’s commitment to putting an end to crimes spread along its border with Thailand, including trafficking in weapons and other weapons.
The schedule coincides with Malaysia’s decision on Sunday to commence detaining all of its residents when they travel from Thailand’s Sungai Kolok area to the border city of Rantau Panjang using illegal border crossings.
” The issue of leakage ( in smuggling ) and misuse of power ( corruption ) at the national border will be controlled, including the northern border”, the Malaysian news agency quoted the Kelantan police commander as saying.
According to another Bernama account on Sunday, deputy director-general of the Malaysian National Security Council, Hamzah Ishak, warned all Malay citizens that only three gates are permitted to travel between its condition and Narathiwat province.
Between Kelantan and Narathiwat, the two nations maintain three gates. They are Waeng city and Bukit Bunga, Sungai Kolok and Rantau Panjang, and Tak Bai and Penkalan Kubor, respectively. The main route between the two nations is the Sungai Kolok-Rantau Panjang cross, which is also known as Bukit Hitam and Sadao in Songkhla territory.
