Malaysia mart’s ‘Allah’ socks blunder sparks backlash from Muslims and debate among politicians

SINGAPORE: Malaysia’s Minister for Religious Affairs Mohd Na’im Mokhtar has called for peaceful following a business wrongdoing that has sparked anger and criticism across the country’s Arab societies.

There were” Allah”-themed socks discovered in a number of KK Super Mart locations, according to the local convenience store chain. Online users and well-known public figures have voiced their opposition to the insulting item’s photos, which have caused some to call for a ban of KK Super Mart. &nbsp,

The event is particularly vulnerable because it happened during Ramadan, the divine month. &nbsp,

” The phrase ‘ Allah’ is greatly esteemed in the sight of Muslims”, said Dr Na’im, according to Bernama. The statement,” Allah is our father, and putting him at our legs is insulting,” is true.

He added that the police, the Islamic development department ( Jakim ), and the ministry of domestic trade and cost of living will conduct an investigation to determine the source and party of the controversy.

Additionally, Jakim is instructed to make a visit to the management of KK Super Mart to help with the research. &nbsp,

The minister addressed reporters gathered at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin mosque on Sunday ( Mar 17 ) to” Give trust to the authorities to conduct their investigations and find the true cause.” &nbsp, &nbsp,

Deputy Home Minister Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said in parliament on March 18 that if found guilty, the parties responsible could be punished with a fine of up to RM20,000 ( US$ 4,251 ), imprisonment for up to three years, or both.

In a Facebook post on March 13 where it confirmed it had halted the price of the unpleasant equipment, KK Super Mart apologized for its monitoring. During a media conference three days later, leader K. K. Chai retorted and offered an apology. &nbsp, &nbsp,

” I respectfully sorry to all Malaysians, especially those from the Muslim faith”, said Dr Chai. &nbsp,

He explained that a merchant was the sole owner of the product administration of the items involved, and that this was done without the assistance of KK Super Mart employees.

Just three of Dr. Chai’s 800 Malaysian branches had any” Allah”-themed socks in stock, with 14 sets of pair on each. &nbsp, &nbsp,

The owner of Xin Jian Chang&nbsp, a contractor company, was also present at the press event on Saturday and offered his own explanation. &nbsp,

According to Mr. Soh Chin Huat,” The boots were imported from China and were among baskets containing 1,200 pairs each of various designs.”” I overlooked and did not fully inspect each item,” he said.

” The affair has made me more cautious when bringing in products from abroad,” I apologize.

Haika Daniel, a KK Mart business relations specialist, said all of the claims that the pleasure stores purposefully sold socks to insult Muslims were false.

” We are aware of how deeply Muslim Muslims in the country hold on to the name of Allah. Thus, we want to emphasise that the company did not intentionally make this problem… this is totally untrue”, he said. &nbsp,

However, these actions did not suffice for the United Malays National Organization ( UMNO ), the youth leader of Malaysia’s largest political party. &nbsp,

Dr. Akmal Saleh has filed a police record along with urging Islam to avoid the KK Super Mart locations. He also pleaded with the business to apologize for the affair by placing banners in each of its shops.

If they do no, Dr Akmal has warned of more radical activity. &nbsp,

According to assistant home secretary Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, cited in Free Malaysia now, police have received 36 information about socks containing the phrase” Allah” for sales at KK Mart convenience stores as of Mar 18. &nbsp,

Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA ) evil- leader Tan Teik Cheng responded to Dr Akmal’s speech, accusing the UMNO legislator of stirring up racial tension. &nbsp,

KK Mart acknowledged their error, apologized, and soon put an end to the situation by offering no justifications after the incident.

” The move by the UMNO youth chief to report the incident ( to police ) and urging others to do the same, however, does not only fail to solve the problem but also exacerbates racial tensions, “he said. &nbsp,

The youth chief of Malaysia’s Democratic Action Party ( DAP ), which is part of the current unity government alongside UMNO, also spoke out against Dr Akmal’s KK Super Mart attack, calling for a” middle ground”.

There is no need for any escalated or overreacting threats that are ineffective and would only serve to further distribute our diverse fabric and even damage the local economy, said Dr. Kelvin Yii. &nbsp,

Dr Na’im- the spiritual affairs minister at the Prime Minister’s Department- has taken a more restricted approach. While urging quiet, he also noted that the affair was” painful to forgive”, according to Bernama.

The explanation was made, but we sincerely hope that KK Super Mart will never take it lightly and that any audit department should examine goods imported from abroad. &nbsp,

” It is extremely delicate. The Muslims must be given the necessary area, according to Dr. Na’im. &nbsp,
