Malaysia Home Minister says son under police investigation for alleged criminal intimidation

Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the home minister of Malaysia, has confirmed that his brother is the subject of a police investigation after allegations of criminal intimidation in SEPANG, Selangor.

He told reporters during a working visit to Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Saturday ( Jan 11 ) that “my son is not above the law, and it is the police’s responsibility to investigate thoroughly and fairly” if there are allegations against him.

” The process I hold is that none of us are above the law, myself included, and that includes my individual child”, he said, as quoted by the Malay Mail.

” If the inspection finds there is a base, let the constitutional procedure take its course”, he added, as quoted by the New Straits Times. &nbsp,

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain reported earlier this week that officers had finished looking into a legal situation involving the father of a national minister.

At the time, the president’s personality had not been disclosed.

According to local media, Razarudin claimed the investigation paper had been handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor ( DPP ) on Monday for further instructions following the complaint’s January 1 police report filing.

According to the New Straits Times,” The DPP has instructed the investigation commander to obtain a statement of the pregnancy assessment of the person who is said to have been threatened by the president’s child.”

” Preliminary investigations revealed that the minister’s son married the woman in September last time”, he said.

Razarudin stated that to further complicate the research, they were awaiting confirmation of the wedding certificate.

” I want to reiterate once more that the officers won’t defend anyone who is a victim of an offence, whether it is a minister or their immediate family.

” The research is clear, and the police will take those innocent to righteousness, “he told the New Straits Times.

Following allegations that a leader’s son had reportedly threatened a woman after she asked him to take responsibility for her seven-week pregnancy, the allegations come.

The incident apparently occurred when the minister’s son was talking with the person and several other witnesses at a home in Telok Air Tawar, Butterworth, Penang, on Dec 24 last month, local media reported.

The event is being looked into for legal harassment under Part 506 of the Penal Code.
