Malaysia Federal Court reduces death sentence for model Altantuya’s killer to 40 years’ jail and caning

On Thursday ( October 10 ), Azilah Hadri, one of the two former Special Actions Unit officers who was found guilty of the notorious murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu, received a sentence lower to a maximum of 10 years in prison.

In a major growth, the deceased’s parents, Mr Shaariibuu Setev wrote a letter supporting Azilah’s program, which was read out by Azilah’s solicitor, Mr J Kuldeep Kumar to the Federal Court in Putrajaya.

” My request stems from a profound respect for the humanity of Peoples and also, I ask that you communicate the relevance of this request to Sirul Umar, who co-perpetrated this dreadful case as well as to his doctors, the court, the lawyer’s office, and the state”, he added. &nbsp,

According to reports from local press, Azilah’s request for a transmission of his prison name has been accepted, according to a three-member Federal Court review section headed by Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat.

The Federal Court has voted to reduce his word to a 40-year prison sentence and 12 wood breaths.

Following the prosecutor’s decision, Azilah’s solicitor, Mr Kuldeep, told investigators,” He is relieved”, the Malay Mail reported. &nbsp,

After the Federal Court upheld his faith in 2015, Azilah, then 48, has spent the past nine years on the death row.

In 2006, Azilah and Sirul Azhar Umar, both original police officers, were found guilty of murdering Altantuya by fatally shooting her before dumping her brain with military-grade C4 bombs at a remote location close to the Subang Dam in Puncak Alam, Shah Alam.
