Malaysia ex-PM Mahathir facing anti-graft probe in a case involving his sons

Former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad is one of the people being looked into in connection with a graft case involving his sons, according to the head of Malaysia’s Anti-Corruption Commission ( MACC ) on Thursday ( Apr 25 ). &nbsp,

The analysis comes as a prominent political figure is being investigated for graft, including those who are close to 98-year-old former innovator Mahathir, a long-time adversary of current Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar has denied targeting social competitors, saying the investigations are part of the administration’s efforts to tackle large- level problem.

In January, the MACC distributed notices to Mahathir’s entrepreneurs sons Mirzan and Mokhzani as part of an investigation into onshore financial and business records that a group of news organizations discovered.

The MACC’s main director, Azam Baki, on Thursday declined to expound on the studies facing Mahathir or his children.

In televised comment, he said to reporters,” Let the investigations come to an end, until we can release the findings of the case.”
