Malaysia drops 1MDB-linked charges against ex-PM Najib, treasury official: Reports

According to reports from the media, a Malaysian court on Wednesday ( Nov. 27 ) allowed the removal of corruption charges relating to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad ( 1MDB) scandal against former prime minister Najib Razak and former Treasury Secretary.

According to officials, Najib and Irwan Serigar Abdullah have been charged with six counts of criminal breach of trust related to a settlement reached between 1MDB and Abu Dhabi state fund International Petroleum Investment Company ( IPIC ). The charges relate to government funds worth RM6.6 billion ( US$ 1.48 billion ).

Najib has participated in a number of 1MDB scandal situations.
