Malaysia court dismisses jailed ex-PM Najib’s bid to serve sentence under house arrest

Najib Razak, the former prime minister, was denied by a Malaysian court’s legal team’s request to obtain a document that would allow him to serve his final prison sentence while he is currently on house arrest, according to his attorney on Wednesday ( Jul 3 ).

Najib claimed in a judicial review application filed on April 1 that an “addendum order” issued by the former king had been a part of a pardons board’s decision in February to reduce his 12-year jail sentence for graft in the multibillion-dollar 1Malaysia Development Berhad ( 1MDB) scandal.

Najib had requested that the court order the authorities to respond to or verify the existence of the royal attempt, which he claimed would allow him to serve the rest of his time under house arrest and to carry out the purchase if it did exist. &nbsp,
