Malaysia can hold election once it tackles current issues and economic uncertainty: PM Ismail Sabri

Mr Ismail Sabri is the 3rd prime minister appointed in this parliamentary term.

Right after GE14 in May 2018, Dr Mahathir Mohamad become Malaysia’s 7th prime minister intended for 22 months beneath the coalition Pakatan Tumpuan government, before this lost power in February 2020 and he was replaced by Mr Muhyiddin and his Perikatan Nasional govt.

Mr Ismail Sabri, who is the Usa Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party’s MEGAPIXEL for the Bera constituency, said BN’s achievement in the state election in Melaka within November last year and Johor last 03 cannot be used being a guarantee of success for the coalition in GE15.

Along with Johor, he stated BN’s landslide success was probably made possible by low voter turnout due to COVID-19 concerns – however the situation may differ during GE15.

“Some people may think that will election at the condition level is not essential…   But for the particular federal level, it is totally different, ” stated Mr Ismail Sabri.

“Amid their particular COVID concerns, the particular voters will come out there and vote to make sure that their parties can form a new government. That is why I think BN’s success in Melaka and Johor can not be used as an assure of success or support for us. ”

On the UMNO leadership’s suggestion to have GE15 held this season, Mr Ismail Sabri said that all 5 leaders including themselves can make any suggestion, but the power to melt the parliament belongs to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong or king associated with Malaysia.

“The ‘top five’ may discuss anything… basically bring their recommendation to the Cabinet as well as the Cabinet agrees as well as sets a date for it, and then I bring it to Agong and doesn’t agree, expense happen, ” stated the prime minister.

UMNO’s “top five” refers to president Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, deputy president Mr Mohamad Hasan and the three vice-presidents Mr Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Mr Mahdzir Khalid and Mr Ismail Sabri himself.

Unlike before, Mr Ismail Sabri mentioned the dissolution of parliament needs to be talked about by the Cabinet as BN is not the only real coalition forming the present government.

The us government led by Mister Ismail Sabri plus formed in August last year consists of 3 coalitions – BN,   Perikatan Lokal and Gabungan Parti Sarawak.
