SINGAPORE: A girl was given a life sentence on Tuesday( Jul 4) for killing her employer’s 70-year-old mother-in-law, leaving behind 26 shot wounds.
When Zin Mar Nwe first arrived in Singapore in January 2018, her card listed her age as 23, but a after bone-age test run by the hospital revealed that she was actually only 17 years old.
The judge stated that as a result, the single word accessible to the judge was life in prison.
Criminals who were under the age of 18 at the time of the offense are not eligible for a suicide sentence, according to the Criminal Procedure Code.
The victim was stabbed by Myanmarese Zin Mar Nwe in June 2018 after the old woman threatened to return her to her representative.
The lady stabbed the victim 26 days until she stopped moving while she was watching television. The lady then went back to get her things, cleaned the knife, and changed before running away.
She was taken into custody at her lady service.
Her limited defense of diminished duty had been rejected by Justice Andre Maniam. According to the lady’s attorneys, Zin Mar Nwe was in a traumatic condition.
Justice Maniam claimed that the offender had reacted angrily toward the dying and was aware of what she was doing, giving the police a detailed account of the stabbing.
The victim had retaliated when the girl unintentionally hurt the prey on occasion, and the judge had agreed that she had hit Zin Mar Nwe to getting her attention or to correct her.
A life sentence of imprisonment was never opposed by the prosecution. According to defense attorney Christopher Bridges, Zin Mar Nwe’s buyer should not be executed under the Legal Assistance Scheme for Capital Offenses.
He indicated Zin Mar Nwe’s book entries, in which she expressed her longing for her parents and partner as well as how her memories made her depressed.
She claimed that she had never left her house in such a way and that her stomach was” strong.”
Justice Maniam questioned Mr. Bridges about a letter his customer had sent to the jury before passing judgment.
Zin Mar Nwe had requested a second opportunity in the email. According to Mr. Bridges, he gave his customer an explanation and instructed her to consult any educating appeals lawyers.
Under Section 300( c ), murder carries a death or life sentence. Since Zin Mar Nwe is a lady, she may be caned.
