A particular pardon offered to gun owners without a valid license has been extended by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin for 30 days, giving them one month to turn in their weapons at any authorities station before being subjected to another crackdown.
The action was taken on Wednesday as a joint team of 100 police and other officials raided 21 locations in Nakhon Pathom and seized about 16 guns and 200 bullets from an organization resembling the mafia that was connected to last week’s shootings of highway police officers at the residence of Praween Chanklai, also known as” Kamnan Nok ,” the local leader and businessman who runs the construction industry.
Anutin Charnvirakul, the deputy prime minister and internal minister, has been given special authority by Mr. Srettha to carry out the one-month pardon, according to government official Chai Wacharonke.
All regions are working on the project, according to Deputy Interior Minister Chada Thaiset, who was formerly given the responsibility by Mr. Anutin to oversee the global monitoring of regional leaders associated with powerful mafia-like gangs in an effort to list them.
In response to the death of Pol Maj Sivakorn Saibua, a Highway Police Division 2 agent in Nakhon Pathom, Mr. Anutin gave the order for the procedure.
Nine of the guns, according to a police cause, were taken from Pol Sgt Maj Pisit Chiewpreecha’s residence. Mr. Praween officially requested politician Maj Sivakorn at the party to grant him specific commercial exchange.
Before a shooter killed Mr. Praween, Pol Maj Sivakorn apparently refused to comply with his request.
Two vehicles thought to have been used by the offenders to flee the scene were discovered at a company connected to Mr. Praween, according to assistant federal authorities chief Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn.
