PUTRAJAYA: A chief executive officer (CEO) of an information technology company was among eight individuals arrested meant for allegedly accepting bribes for assisting employers or agents to get quotas for foreign workers.

The CEO, in the 50s as well as other suspects, including an older official in the firm were arrested when they were summoned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Fee headquarters on Wednesday (Aug 2) night.

The suspects were brought just before Magistrate Irza Zulakha Rohanuddin on Wed (Aug 3) who have allowed a three-day remand order until Aug 5.
Two suspects held were staff members of employment agencies whilst another two had been owners of such agencies.
Resources said the company was believed to be a platform provider for international workers’ applications hired by the government.

MACC director of investigations Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim confirmed the particular remand and that analysis was ongoing.
