PHUKET: On Monday evening, sea officials are looking into the cause of a blaze that severely damaged a luxury yacht moored in Chalong Bay.
The 34.2- inch flying yacht Obsession II , was left with her tower levelled. No injuries were reported.
The Royal Thai Navy was alerted about 3pm and sent two canoes, Tor 111 and Tor 272, to the field. They reported the Obsession II was anchored, unattended and” regularly burning”.
Before firefighters were able to contain the fire, the flames burned for three and a half time. No team members were aboard when the blaze started. They had gone offshore to obtain products.
Firefighters first tried using burning equipment on board the yacht, but were forced to leave the vehicle for their own health, according to Phuket sea department director Natchapong Pranit.
The army was called to help. Two other boats, including a speedboat, were also reported at the picture to help kill the blaze.
The entire scope of the injury was still being determined.
As the premier of European yard CIM, Obsession II was launched in 2002 as the company’s flagship. When the fireplace started, she apparently was being used as a contract vessel. Eight people and five members of the crew is fit in. It is operated by Selalai, a firm based in Phuket.
