BANGKOK: According to a new rule that went into effect on Tuesday( Oct 17 ), Thai police are now required to wear longer locks and buzzcuts.
Adult officers will now be permitted to grow their hair up to 5 cm long on top after five decades of a law requiring them to cut the sides and backs of their heads.
Torsak Sukvimol, the newly appointed police chief of the kingdom, stated that loosening the cut regulations was a step toward modernizing the police force and reducing the identity of officers to those looking to target them.
He jokingly remarked,” I’m worried that prosecutors could only go undercover as a priest.”
Excitement cuts have been a requirement for all male officers since 2018.
Thailand is a traditional nation, and state representatives must follow strict even plans.
Rangsiman Rome praised the action, calling it” a good first step ,” and his Move Forward party has advocated for loosening the stringent hair regulations for police.
However, he believes that police officials should be free to select their own wigs.
Sorat Klapwila, professor of the social sciences at the Police Cadet Academy, predicted that the change would be well received by soldiers.
He told AFP that” some officers officials needed to visit the hairstylist at least once a month.”
They will be able to keep money thanks to this shift.
Junior officials in Thailand is make as little as US$ 250 per month.
The new scalp plan had no effect on Bangkok’s wealthiest neighborhood police officer Wuttipat Cheunjampla, 50.
It’s merely a hairdo. Perhaps they could do something else to enhance the lives of low-ranking police officials, he suggested.
Sumontip Chitsawang, a professor at Chulalongkorn University, claimed that the government was more worried about the authorities doing an efficient job of enforcing justice and combating crime.
According to Sumonthip,” In the eyes of the people, it’s never important.”
