The government should examine a resolution from March 14, 2023, which outlines the boundary line at the Thap Lan National Park’s 265 000-rai limit, according to National Park Office Director Chaiwat Limlikhitaksorn.

Mr. Chaiwat stated on Saturday that he believes the government will change its mind regarding the proposal because some locals were upset during a hearing on the subject.

He said an online public hearing held recently to talk about the redesignation of 265,000 rai of land atThap Lan National Parkhad 947,107 participants, the highest number of participants of any public hearings ever conducted by the government.

The benefits of an online survey conducted between June 28 and July 12 by Mr. Chaiwat on Saturday, which was released with the results of Mr. Chaiwat’s announcement on Saturday, asked participants for their thoughts on the cabinet’s decision to change the national park’s boundary line on March 14.

He said a total of 947, 107 people expressed their opinions in the hearings, with 901, 892 of them ( 95.2 % ) opposing the proposal and the other 45, 215 ( 4.8 % ) approving it.

The proposal will result inThap Lan National Parklosing a 265,000-rai piece of land, which is settled by local communities. It was initiated by the previous government, which claimed the plan would end an overlap between the national park’s land and state-owned land.

According to Mr. Chaiwat, the number of people who attended current net public hearings on the subject was the highest in state agency history.

I want to thank the people for their trust and their support for the forest and its animals in the name of the tree’s keeper. Thank you for doing the proper thing. he said.

In response to the results of open hearings, Chokedee Poralokanont, a former head of a group of villagers in Wang Nam Khieo’s Wang Nam Khieo district in Nakhon Ratchasima, posted on Twitter on Saturday to express his regret over his previous leadership.

He claimed to be one of the people who helped make the Thaisamakkhi group transition from an agricultural community to an industrial one in 1997. He also expressed regret for his actions because the government allowed newcomers to cultivate the land.
