A minute runway at U- Tapao–Rayong–Pattaya International Airport may become built despite criticism from local occupants.
According to officials, the runway’s construction, which is a component of the Eastern Economic Corridor ( EEC ) scheme, will continue in accordance with the recommendations made by an Environmental and Health Impact Assessment ( EHIA ) study.
The EEC held discussions from March 13 through March 20 at the Ban Chang District Office to discuss the status of the airport construction plan in Rayong’s Ban Chang city.
According to the EHIA’s sound slope chart, the conferences will also provide updates on plans to hire experts for the job and provide compensation for residents who are most likely to be affected by noise pollution.
Residents ‘ representative in Ban Chang area, Prasert Saengyai, wrote a petition to the Rayong governor and EEC secretary-general asking for the government to end the job and the removal of the EHIA’s sounds slope map.
Additionally, the plea wants to see a new sound contour map that will allow the impacted residents to receive more justice and transparency.
Deputy EEC director- public Tharit Issarayangyun, who received the petition on behalf of the secretary- standard, confirmed residents may be compensated.
He claimed that because the project would be based on expert input, a survey may be good.
He added, however, that the Administrative Court is taking the inhabitants ‘ concerns into consideration, and that the EEC will proceed with it as per the EHIA report unless the courtroom issues an order to stop the project.
In later February, tambon Samnak Thon’s subdistrict leader, Chawalit Romruen, led a rally against U- Tapao aircraft for causing sound pollution in the area. The opposition was joined by over 300 people.
