Local furniture and home decor retailer Scene Shang announced on Thursday (Feb 1) that it is closing. The brand’s showroom at Wisma Atria and its online store will cease operations on Feb 29.
Co-founder Jessica Wong thanked patrons for “the 10 wonderful years” in a statement posted on social media.
She said: “We started out with a dream of wanting to create meaningful and beautiful pieces that captured your culture and heritage stories, to fill your homes with, to add that warmth and personal touch.”
However, she added, “the environment and years have been tough on a small business like ours”.
Wong continued: “Based in a country with little raw materials and makers, it has always been a challenge to us in balancing costs and wants. We have found it increasingly tough to continue and have pondered hard over this decision for a while and have decided that it is now time for us to hang up our hats.”
