Live: South Korean lawmakers set to vote on President Yoon’s impeachment

As lawmakers sat down on a motion to remove President Yoon Suk Yeol from the parliament building on Saturday ( Dec. 7 ) there were protesters.

Yoon previously apologized to the country for briefly enforcing military law; it was his first public appearance since he rescinded the decree early on Wednesday after congress defied military and police barricades to reject it.

In a brief televised address, he said,” My despair as president led to the declaration of martial law.”

Yoon added that, for the first time in South Korea since 1980, he did no attempt to avoid legal and political liability for his decision to declare martial law. &nbsp,
