
Singapore’s sport chief has been appointed.
Forrest Li, the billionaire owner of Singapore Premier League club Lion City Sailors and the founder of tech giant Sea, was elected president of the Football Association of Singapore ( FAS ) on Monday ( Apr 28 ).
He succeeds Bernard Tan as the agency’s president.
At an FAS unusual parliament held at the Raffles Town Club, Li’s slate of candidates was unopposed for a four-year name up to 2029.
Hougang United president Bill Ng, national staff captain Hariss Harun, Lion City Sailors public administrator Tan Li Yu, and Burnley FC’s chief of staff Sean Bai may serve as vice-presidents, while Tampines Rovers president Desmond Ong may serve as deputy president.
The other three people of Li’s group, Sailors executive producer Bruce Liang, St. Joseph’s Institution International president Roy Quek, Tasek Academy, and Social Services direct manager Arivan Shanmugaratnam, may serve as committee members.
I do not take lightly the responsibility I do as your FAS council president today. Our team’s top priority as council is to restore that pride and joy to Singapore football, Li said in the run-up to his election.
