Leading ladies: These women are shaping the world of wine in Singapore

During our chat, Linda Chan proclaimed,” In Singapore, we are raised as equal.” As she leads Grand Vin along with two other women partners, it is obvious that Linda has no past or present female prejudices. After Derek Lee, the company’s chairman, passed away, she took control of the business. In the years that followed, Chan never only maintained her position as the supplier of premium old-world labeling from France and Italy, but she also expanded the company, launched an online sales network, and expanded into a wine club.

Speaking of Grand Vin’s success, she said,” We have always been brand builders,” but she also mentions that success in the wine industry extends to the unglamorous tasks of inventory and shipment. ” Our vineyards are treated the same way whether they are sitting in a Petrus package or coming from entry-level wines from Cote du Rhone.”

She remarked about the changing beverage landscape:” We are on equal footing then because wineries, wine managers, and diplomats coming to Singapore were primarily men a decade ago, but in recent years, we find a lot of women winemakers and ambassadors, so we are on equal standing.”
