Authorities urged to halt social trials and quicken the passage of asylum laws
On Tuesday, activists held a demonstration at Government House to need a quick and straightforward investigation into the death of their partner Netiporn Sanesangkhom who was taken into custody last year.
The team led by Jatupat Boonpattararaksa, Tanapat Kapheng and Patsaravalee Tanakitvibulpon even demanded parole for democratic prisoners. Additionally, they demanded that the government delay detention and prosecutors of political suspects and expedite the passage of an amnesty law.
Around two dozen people reportedly confronted riot police at Gate 1 of Government House, and a small scuffle broke out when some attempted to enter the building, but no arrests were made.
Netiporn, aka Boong, had a heart attack at 6.30am on May 14 at the Central Correctional Hospital. According to the Department of Corrections, treatment efforts started right away and continued as she was rushed to Thammasat University Hospital, where she was later declared dead at 11.22 p.m.
Netiporn, 28, a key member of the Thalu Wang protest movement, had been detained at the Central Women’s Correctional Institution since January 26, when her loan was voided in connection with a lese-majeste cost.
She called for the release of another political prisoners and the beginning of a hunger affect the day after entering jail. The department claimed that she started taking liquids and food once in the first few days of April, but that the lengthy hunger strike had weakened her.
A preliminary examination revealed that acute heart failure was the primary cause of Netiporn’s death. More lab tests that may identify different contributing factors are also pending.
Netiporn’s health data were given to her mother’s lawyer on Monday.
Attorney Kritsadang Nutcharus has been pressing for more details regarding exactly what happened to Netiporn in the prison doctor. He alleges that during the resuscitations, an endotracheal tubing was inserted into her throat rather than her windpipe.
At the Ministry of Justice on Tuesday, Dr Pongpak Areyapinan, acting chairman of the Central Correctional Hospital, said he was in the hospital that carried Netiporn to Thammasat University Hospital. He claimed to be in the back seat.
When writers inquired about the argument made by Mr. Kritsadang, he did not respond.
Since the beginning of the Free Youth demonstrations in July 2020, 1, 954 individuals have been charged for social participation and appearance, according to statistics from Thai Lawyers for Human Rights as of April 30th, 2019.
