HANOI : At least 14 people have died and three have been injured in a fire that ripped through a small apartment block in central Hanoi, according to state media reports on Friday ( May 24 ).
” The fire started at around 12″ 30am ( 1. 30am, Singapore day ). The fire was big, with several explosions,” Vietnam News Agency (VNA ) said.
By 6. 20 am, at least 14 people had died and three were injured, VNA cited regional authorities as saying.
How many people were there in the room at the time the flames started? After an afternoon, the lights were extinguished.
The bottom surfaces of the building are rented out, according to VNA, and the building is located down a 2m-wide corner.
The second floor presumably was used for electrical bicycle repair and sales.
A neighbour, who declined to give her title, told AFP she heard an “explosion like flames crackers”.
” I thought there was a struggle, or someone hitting the screen. I saw the flames as I ran over.
” Many of the neighbours had run out of the alley, crossing through other neighbours ‘ houses. We were therefore, but scared. “
