Popular South Korean actress Gong Hyo-jin, 42, is getting married to boyfriend, singer Kevin Oh, 32.
The news was announced to Korean media by Gong’s agency in a statement, sharing that the couple will be holding a private ceremony in October, to be attended by relatives and close acquaintances.
Their relationship was made public in April this year, soon after Gong had caught the bouquet thrown by Son Ye-jin at the latter’s wedding to Hyun Bin on March 31.
Reportedly, Gong and Oh have been dating for two years but kept it private with only some friends in the know.
Gong has been steadily acting in both films and TV shows since making her debut in 1999 with the horror flick Memento Mori.
She’s one of Korea’s rom-com queens, having appeared in hit K-dramas like Pasta, It’s Okay, That’s Love, The Producers and When The Camellia Blooms.
Oh is a Korean-American singer-songwriter who got his break when he emerged as the champion in the seventh season of the talent show Superstar K. He has written tracks for Korean TV shows such as D.P. and Yumi’s Cells 2.
He posted the good news on Instagram, by sharing a photo of sheet music for a song he composed with lyrics written by Gong.
Calling Gong his best friend in life, soulmate and soon to be his wife, Oh also mentioned that the wedding ceremony will be held in New York, instead of Seoul.
The post has gotten over 40,000 likes, with many congratulating the couple in the comments.
