After two tremors occurred that on Thursday and Saturday, officials for material resources will deploy geological monitoring technology on Koh Samui this year.

The ministry claimed on its Facebook page that Natural Resources and Environment Minister Patcharawat Wongsuwan had ordered the immediate construction of a geological monitoring station on the holiday island in response to people ‘ problems following the shakes.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, officials may be present to mount the equipment. &nbsp,

Director- public Pichit Sombatmak said people felt the two numbness, which registered magnitudes of 2.2- 2.4 on the Richter level, but there were no reports of any harm.

Weerachart Wiwekawin, chairman for effective faults and earthquakes, claimed that the two earthquakes were most likely brought on by the action in the shattered granite foundation beneath Koh Samui. He was convinced that Koh Samui was secure and that a powerful disaster would not strike the place.

A 2.4- scale vibration occurred four miles full in tambon Ang Thong of Koh Samui at 8.24am on Thursday and a 2.2- scale collapse, two kilometres strong, in tambon Bo Phut at 8.31am on Saturday.

Both shakes were described by the office as microearthquakes that occurred way away from any active problem line. On Surat Thani’s peninsula, they were about 80 kilometers away from the Khlong Marui Fault.

The ministry attributed the cracks in Koh Samui’s granite base to geothermal energy.
