Building a bridge to connect Trat on the mainland to Koh Chang, the province’s popular island, will likely cost 10 billion baht, according to the Expressway Authority of Thailand ( Exat ).

After the Transport Ministry requested a task feasibility study, exat government Surachet Laophulsuk lately surveyed potential locations for development.

He said there are two possibilities. The area will first be connected by an 8.2 km-long road bridge. Building may begin in Laem Ngop city on the island from Ban Yai Mom-Ban Nong Tien and finish near Koh Chang Hospital on the island.

He claimed that this method was successful in the past, which were held on February 9 and 10? Some 472 out of 476 people in attendance agreed with the solution.

A 5.59 km road crosses the Laem Ngop district’s Ban Thammachat Lang and ends near the ferry wharf at Ao Sapparot on Koh Chang.

The feasibility study committee will take into account factors like the depth of the bottom and sea currents, according to older Exat engineer Kanchit Wilaisilp, who said the committee will take these into account when making its decision.

He said the venture must not have any negative effects on coral reefs, seaweed, or marine life.

The investigation is expected to be completed in 2026, said Mr Surachet. When the gate is finished in 2033, it may take about five years to complete.
