Kitefoiler Max Maeder sets sights on ‘beautiful birthday present’ for Singapore after Olympics final postponed

Valentin Bontus of Austria led the primary race, with Riccardo Pianosi of Italy coming in third, Toni Vodisek of the third place nevertheless, and Valentin Bontus of Austria took third.

Vodisek and Bontus are currently tied for the top competition wins with only one general result due to the outcome on Thursday.

To win silver, three races must be won.

Describing the first race as having gone” sub-optimally”, Maeder revealed that he had” touched down” at the start of the race, with part of his board nose-diving into the water.

He was the last racer at the first level, out of which there are four in each competition. But he came back strong to end following.

” I was n’t too bothered or did n’t have a rush of emotions after I touched down. I just continued racing, did n’t give up and tried to make the best of the position I was ( in )”, he explained.

The kitefoiling competition’s semi-finals and ultimate were halted on Thursday, just like in past racing days due to light winds.

Maeder is familiar with this, though.

” It’s part of the game, actually. You come to kiting and sometimes the weather does n’t play ball”, he said.

” And sometimes it just does n’t work out. I’ve been competing for a while, so it does n’t really bother me to wait around.
