King endorses Kitrat as national police chief

The visit of Pol Gen Kitrat Phanphet as the new federal police chief has been approved by His Majesty the King.

The announcement was made on Friday and was published in the Royal Gazette.

His Majesty issued a royal order directing Pol Gen Kitrat to resign from the position of deputy federal police captain and assume the title of national police chief. The visit was effective on October 9.

According to the Royal Gazette, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra countersigned the imperial order.

The Police Commission approved Pol Gen Kitrat’s interview on Monday, succeeding Pol Gen Torsak Sukvimol, who retired at the end of September. &nbsp,

Pol Gen Kitrat, the most top out of all the individuals who were considered, is due to leave in September 2026.

He has served as acting federal police captain before, somewhat during the conflict between Pol Gen Torsak and his assistant, Pol Gen Surachate” Big Joke” Hakparn.

Both men were temporarily moved to less active positions because the conflict had turned into a significant diversion. After that, Pol Gen Surachate was fired from the army.
