Under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act ( POFMA ), Reform Party leader Kenneth Jeyaretnam has received his eighth correctional order.
The most recent POFMA purchase comes from a Facebook post from Jun 15 where he made the false claim that the government sets deliberately higher property prices for the Housing and Development Board.  ,
He also claimed in the blog that the government’s goal is to keep land prices as high as possible while keeping a huge land bank of heritage properties, as part of its plan to boost the reserves.
These claims are untrue,  , the Ministry of Finance ( MOF ) said in a media release on Thursday ( Jul 4).  ,
The POFMA Office is looking into Mr. Jeyaretnam, according to the statement.
He may have violated the Administration of Justice ( Protection ) Act 2016 against him, according to the Singapore Police Force, which has also begun an investigation against him.
” Companies have been in contact with Mr Jeyaretnam since April 2024 and had invited him to help with the studies”, said the government.
He has so far remained outside of his area of jurisdiction and has not made himself available to help with examinations by attending interviews.
The government noted that Mr. Jeyaretnam has received the seventh adjustment path for 21 online content, and that he has continued to make false and misleading claims about government plans and the operations of common agencies.
He did but “despite having the falsehoods and their equivalent facts pointed out to him,” according to MOF,” and having publicly accessible facts.”
Even when the details are clear and should be known to him, he has repeatedly made false statements.
In February of this year, Mr. Jeyaretnam received his fifth POFMA purchase in relation to his remarks about two ministers renting black-and-white bungalows at Ridout Road.
His sixth POFMA order, which was issued in May, was based on his assertion that the Prime Minister and Law Minister could control the amounts of performance bonuses that were given to particular High Court courts.
