Col Saw Chit Thu stated in a speech to Thai Defense Minister Phumtham Wechayachai that the BGF would detain visit swindlers and human smugglers operating in Myanmar’s regulated regions.

Additionally, he made a promise to assist in trafficking victims ‘ relocation.

A large number of unusual patients from Myawaddy will now be transported by the BGF from Tak’s Mae Sot city through the 2nd Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge to the Thai side of the border, he said.

The shift is intended to support Thailand and Myanmar’s combined efforts to combat international crime syndicates and ensure that recruited victims are safely returned to their home countries.

Col Saw Chit Thu stated in the speech,” We would like the Thai authorities to assist us when required.”

As part of its efforts to stop criminals along the border, the BGF announced it would arrest more than 8, 000 people, mainly Chinese citizens, who work for call center gangs, up to their countries.

Pol Gen Thatchai Pitaneelaboot, chairman of the Royal Thai Police’s Anti-Human Smuggling Centre and Police Cyber Taskforce, said on Friday that Beijing had provided Thailand with a list of more than 3, 700 Chinese suspects involved in call-scam and trafficking groups in Myanmar.

Mr. Phumtham, who also serves as a deputy prime minister, stated on Friday that he had already seen the speech and thanked Col. Saw Chit Thu for showing willingness to collaborate to stop illegal activity along the borders.

He claimed that the government’s top priority is to eradicate visit scammers that operate along the Thai-Myanmar border and return the victims.

Justice Minister Pol Col Tawee Sodsong stated on Tuesday that the Department of Special Investigation was looking into the case of Col Saw Chit Thu and two other BGF officials for individual trafficking.

When confronted on this, Mr. Phumtham simply stated that the law may be allowed to proceed.

They are accused of being involved in the smuggling of Indian immigrants who were forced to work for groups in call centers.

Col Saw Chit Thu claimed for BBC Burmese that his military party had done” a bit” to stop human smuggling and assisted in the recovery and return of many patients.

The right party Justice for Myanmar exposed the BGF’s participation in Chinese-run website frauds, illegal casinos, and online gaming activities in Myawaddy in May last year, reported The Irrawaddy.

The UK imposed sanctions against Col Saw Chit Thu in December 2023 over allegations of human trafficking, forced workers, and human rights violations, as did the EU, which even sanctioned Lt Col Mote Thone and Maj Tin Win.

The BGF conducted a series of raids in Shwe Kokko, opposing Mae Sot, on Friday, according to Khit Thit Media, a news company in Myanmar.

Those places include hotels, cafes, and restaurants, as the BGF pledged to give employees who were lured or forced by traffickers and scammers to work it back to their countries.
