A ruling party prospect in India has been forced to deny eating meat in his election campaign.

Kangana Ranaut, a vocal supporter of the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP), said the claims by her opponents are” shameful” and “baseless rumours”.

Indians, the largest religious sect in India, regard cattle as sacred.

Some BJP members have pushed for the elimination of cow murder.

An opposition politician made the claim that Ranaut, an award-winning Bollywood superstar who has appeared in some of India’s highest grossing movies, had recently eaten beef.

As alleged support for that state, various social media users shared screenshots of what they thought were old posts from Ranaut’s accounts.

The artist, who is attempting to enter politics in the upcoming weeks as a BJP member in northeastern Himachal Pradesh status, may be deterred by the claim.

She wrote on X, formerly Twitter, and wrote,” I do n’t consume beef or any other kind of red meat; it’s shameful that completely untrue rumors are being spread about me. I’ve been advocating and supporting the yogic and Ayurvedic way of life for decades.”

Nothing can ever persuade my persons, as they already know me and are aware that I am a happy Hindu.

Renaut, 37, signed off her blog with the word” Jai Shri Ram”, a statement of the Hindu beliefs.

In India, cattle production and consumption are highly controversial, and so-called cattle safety vigilante groups have targeted members of the Muslim minority in particular.

India is one of the biggest producers of beef in the world despite widespread local restrictions, mostly due to the region’s water buffalo market, which is free from many of the restrictions.

India’s highest court overturned the BJP’s earlier attempt to pass a global restrictions on cattle murder in 2017. The purchase and consumption of beef have been prohibited in a number of BJP-ruled state.

The group, which is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has strong support from the nation’s Hindu population, is expected to win the approaching elections.

Ranaut is no stranger to controversy. She made a number of major allegations against people in the industry in her most significant way in 2020, at the top of her popularity in Hindi film.
After she urged Mr. Modi to “tame” an opposition leader, her profile on what was next Twitter was suspended in 2021 for alleged incitement to violence.
